HS & College Calculator Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how HS & College Calculator, an iOS/iPadOS app operated by Banana Apps LLC ("Banana Apps," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information. It covers only this app — other Banana Apps products have their own separate policies.

Effective July 24, 2026Last Updated July 24, 2026
01

Scope

This policy applies to the HS & College Calculator native iOS/iPadOS app. It does not cover the getbananaapps.com website (see the Website Privacy Center) or any other Banana Apps product.

02

Device-only architecture

The app has no user account, authentication, backend server, cloud database, cloud sync, remote analytics SDK, advertising SDK, attribution SDK, remote crash reporter, or messaging system operated by Banana Apps.

The app does not transmit calculations or saved work to Banana Apps or a developer-operated backend. Data described below is stored in the app's local iOS sandbox on your device unless you explicitly copy or share it using system features.

03

Local data the app stores

The following categories are stored on-device only:

  • Calculation expressions, results, modes, and timestamps
  • Saved solution steps with verification/source metadata
  • Optional user notes and tags
  • Pin and workspace associations
  • Workspaces (name, subject, order, pin state, identifiers, timestamps)
  • Saved graphs (expressions, colors, visibility, viewport, trace settings, titles, workspace association, timestamps)
  • Favorite formula identifiers and timestamps
  • Angle, appearance, haptic, and contextual-tip preferences
  • Legacy saved-graph UserDefaults payload retained for rollback compatibility through version 2.1
  • MetricKit performance and diagnostic payloads (up to 20 payload files; no in-app delete control)
  • Recovery archives (SwiftData database and SQLite sidecars) created only after you confirm archive-and-reset
  • Temporary PDF study sheets and diagnostics export files
  • Apple-managed OS logs containing technical error descriptions
04

MetricKit performance and diagnostics

iOS provides the app with MetricKit performance and diagnostic payloads. The app retains up to 20 payload files locally; older files are displaced as newer ones arrive. There is no time-based expiration and no in-app button to delete diagnostics individually. Diagnostics do not leave your device unless you explicitly export them using the Apple share sheet.

05

PDFs, diagnostics exports, clipboard, and share sheet

When you generate a PDF study sheet, the app writes a temporary PDF file. Files older than 24 hours are removed only when another PDF is generated; the operating system may also purge temporary files. PDF study sheets export selected readable content and are not a complete data export.

Copying to the clipboard, sharing through the Apple share sheet, and emailing a diagnostics JSON are user-initiated. You choose the destination. Once shared, the destination provider applies its own terms and privacy practices.

06

Recovery archives

If the local SwiftData database cannot be opened, the app can — only after you explicitly confirm archive-and-reset — copy the unreadable database and SQLite sidecars into a local recovery archive so that engineering can help investigate. Recovery archives have no in-app browser, restore, export, time limit, or deletion control today.

07

Clear All Calculations vs other local data

Deleting an individual calculation removes that entry. Clear All Calculations removes calculation history entries, including their attached notes, tags, pins, saved solution steps, and workspace links.

Clear All Calculations does not remove: workspaces, saved graphs, formula favorites, app preferences, MetricKit diagnostics, temporary files, recovery archives, or the legacy saved-graph key. Delete those individually where the app allows.

The retained legacy saved-graph key may re-import an older graph after graph deletion in some rollback scenarios. We do not promise permanent graph deletion until this is addressed.

08

No accounts, purchases, or tracking

The app has no account, sign-in, password, purchase flow, subscription, trial, credit balance, paywall, advertising, attribution SDK, remote analytics SDK, cross-app tracking, or push-notification system operated by Banana Apps. It does not use App Tracking Transparency because it does not track.

09

Sensitive OS permissions

The app does not request camera, photo library, microphone, speech recognition, contacts, calendar, location, health, notifications, tracking, Bluetooth, biometrics, local-network, or CloudKit permissions. Clipboard writes, Apple share sheets, haptics, sandbox file storage, and MetricKit do not present the sensitive-permission prompts listed above.

10

Support communications

If you email Banana Apps at [email protected], we may receive your email address, the name shown by your mail account, the message content, any device or app details you include, and any attachments (for example screenshots or a diagnostics JSON you chose to send).

The email provider, access controls, retention, deletion, and privacy-request verification process are: support email is handled by Google Workspace, restricted to authorized Banana Apps LLC personnel, retained for up to 24 months, and deleted on verified request

We do not claim that Banana Apps collects nothing. Support communications, and website data (below), are distinct from the app's device-only behavior.

11

Website data

The getbananaapps.com website is separate from this app. See the Website Privacy Center and the Cookies & Site Storage notice for what the website itself does.

12

Apple system services and device backups

The app runs on Apple platforms and uses standard iOS storage, share sheet, clipboard, and MetricKit APIs. Apple may generate operating-system logs, crash logs, or device backups (including iCloud Backup) under Apple's own terms. We do not control Apple's system behavior and do not make representations on Apple's behalf.

Uninstalling the app normally removes the app's local sandbox, but device or iCloud backups may still contain older data. We cannot guarantee that no backup copy exists.

13

Third-party offline math software

The app bundles Apple iOS frameworks and the offline math libraries CortexJS Compute Engine 0.73.0 and complex-esm. These libraries run inside the app and do not receive user data from Banana Apps. esbuild is a development-only tool.

Bundled open-source notices and license texts will be published alongside the app; the full inventory is not yet confirmed complete.

14

How we use information

The app uses local data to operate its features (calculations, saved work, graphs, workspaces, preferences), to help you recover from unreadable local storage, and to let you export or share content you choose. Support-email information is used to answer your message.

15

Sharing and user-directed disclosure

Banana Apps does not sell or share app data because it does not receive app data. When you copy to the clipboard, share a PDF, or export a diagnostics file, you decide where the content goes, and the receiving app or service applies its own terms.

16

Retention

Local data is retained as described above. Support emails are retained by our email provider subject to the marker noted in "Support communications." We do not otherwise store app data.

17

Security

App data lives inside the standard iOS app sandbox and inherits platform protections. We use reasonable safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not guarantee security.

18

Your choices, access, correction, and deletion

Local data controls are described on the Privacy Choices page. For requests about support communications or applicable website data, contact [email protected] or [email protected]. The app cannot provide a complete raw-data export, and Banana Apps cannot remotely view, restore, correct, or delete device-only app data.

19

Children and students

The app is intended for high-school and college students studying math and STEM. The current minimum-age and parental-consent position for this policy is ages 13 and up; users under the age of majority should use the app only with parental or guardian consent. We do not claim the app is "safe for minors" in any absolute sense.

20

International users

Regional availability and legal position outside the United States have not been confirmed for this app. Contact us before relying on region-specific rights.

21

Policy changes

If we change this policy materially, we will update the Last Updated date and, where practical, provide additional notice. Continued use of the app after the update means you accept the revised policy.
