Sweep Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Sweep, an iOS and iPadOS app operated by Banana Apps LLC ("Banana Apps," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information. Visits to getbananaapps.com are covered separately by the Website Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Apple's own services are governed by Apple's policies.

Summary

Sweep is a free, accountless, local-first photo-library cleanup tool. Banana Apps does not receive your photos, photo-library metadata, scan results, selections, or cleanup history from the app. Sweep has no advertising, no cross-app tracking, and no third-party app analytics.

02

Photo library access

Sweep requests Photo Library read/write permission to scan authorized media, show thumbnails, compare media locally, and delete items you confirm. Full and Limited access are both supported. If you deny or restrict access, Sweep cannot scan or delete media and will show a recovery path to iOS Settings.

Sweep itself does not upload media to Banana Apps or to any app-specific cloud service. Apple Photos and iCloud may retrieve iCloud-backed thumbnails or manage originals through your Apple/iCloud configuration; that behavior is governed by Apple.

03

Photo-library metadata

To classify and display your library, Sweep reads the following per-asset metadata into memory: Apple Photos local identifier, creation date, duration, pixel dimensions, media type and subtype, screenshot/screen-recording status, favorite state, and the original filename used only as a fallback for screen-recording detection.

This metadata is held in memory for the current app process. Sweep does not intentionally persist it and does not send it to Banana Apps.

04

Derived on-device processing

Sweep derives estimated byte sizes, cleanup categories, Vision feature prints, similar/duplicate groupings, a suggested keeper, scan progress, and your current selections and keeper overrides. This data is local and transient. Vision comparison does not force an iCloud original download; unavailable assets can be omitted from similarity grouping.

Storage figures and automatic suggestions are estimates derived from media metadata, not exact encoded file sizes, and may be incomplete or wrong.

05

Data persisted on your device

Sweep persists a small amount of local state in iOS UserDefaults:

  • onboarding completion
  • aggregate estimated lifetime bytes cleaned
  • last successful cleanup date
  • reminder-enabled preference

Sweep does not intentionally persist photo identifiers, thumbnails, feature prints, or event-level cleanup history. Sweep currently has no in-app "reset all local data" control. No fixed local retention period is verified for this UserDefaults state.

06

Notifications

Notifications are optional. Sweep requests iOS alert, sound, and badge permission only when you choose to enable a local monthly cleanup reminder in More > Stay ahead. Sweep schedules one local notification with a cleanup-reminder title/body and a local trigger about 30 days out. Sweep does not use a push token, notification server, or remote campaign provider.

You can disable the reminder in Sweep or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings at any time.

07

Logs and diagnostics

Sweep writes generic OSLog messages for scan, deletion, and reminder failures. These messages do not include asset identifiers, filenames, photo content, or account identifiers.

Operating-system diagnostics behavior is controlled by Apple. If you have enabled Apple diagnostics sharing on your device, some operating-system logs may leave the device under Apple's own controls; that is outside Sweep's direct control.

08

Sharing and providers

Sweep does not integrate non-Apple providers. The Apple platform services listed below are used to make the app work; they are not Banana Apps servers:

  • Apple PhotoKit / Photos / iCloudPhoto Library permission, authorized asset access, thumbnails, and system-confirmed deletions. Apple Photos may retrieve iCloud-backed thumbnails or originals through your Apple/iCloud configuration.
  • Apple VisionLocal visual feature-print comparison used for similar/duplicate grouping.
  • Apple UserNotificationsLocal monthly reminder only; no push token or notification server.
  • Apple UserDefaults and OSLogLocal state persistence and generic operational logging on the device.
  • Email providersIf you email Banana Apps for support, your message is stored by our email provider. support email is handled by Google Workspace, restricted to authorized Banana Apps LLC personnel, retained for up to 24 months, and deleted on verified request

Banana Apps does not sell scan content or metadata and does not use them for targeted advertising, because Banana Apps does not receive them.

09

Retention

Scan state (metadata in memory, derived data, selections, keeper overrides) is transient and lives for the current app process. The UserDefaults preferences listed above remain on your device until you uninstall Sweep or a future reset control is introduced. A pending local reminder remains scheduled until it fires, you turn the reminder off, or you uninstall the app. Items you delete are handed to Apple Photos, where Recently Deleted retention is controlled by Apple.

Support emails are retained by Banana Apps and its email provider according to a process that must be confirmed. support email is handled by Google Workspace, restricted to authorized Banana Apps LLC personnel, retained for up to 24 months, and deleted on verified request

10

Your choices

Choose Full, Limited, or denied Photo Library access when Sweep asks, and change your choice any time in iOS Settings. Enable or disable notification permission for Sweep in iOS Settings, and turn the local reminder on or off in Sweep. There is no Sweep account to close and no developer-held app dataset to export. For requests about support emails Banana Apps actually holds, see Privacy Choices.

11

Children

Minimum age and any minor/guardian position: ages 13 and up; users under the age of majority should use the app only with parental or guardian consent. Sweep's public App Store age rating is 4+, but that rating is not the same as a contractual minimum age. We do not claim COPPA, GDPR-K, or other children's-privacy compliance without qualified legal review.

12

Security

Sweep relies on the standard iOS app sandbox and the platform controls Apple provides for Photos access. We use reasonable safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not guarantee security.

13

International processing

The app does not send scan data to Banana Apps, so no international transfer occurs for that data. Support communications and website visits may involve providers and locations that must be confirmed; see the Website Privacy Policy.

14

Policy changes

Fixed effective and last-updated dates are shown at the top of this page. Sweep does not currently include an in-app policy-change notice mechanism. Material changes may be described through the updated page or, where appropriate, an App Store update.
