Military Veteran Help — Support
Military Veteran Help is an independent, plain-language education and private wellbeing app for iPhone and iPad. It is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and does not provide legal, medical, or claim-representation advice.
About the app
Military Veteran Help is an independent iPhone and iPad app from Banana Apps LLC that provides plain-language education about U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, disability claims, and transition, together with private, on-device wellbeing tools. Core use does not require an account. An optional account backup is available only when the shipped build is configured for it, and transmits only a small allowlisted profile subset. The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and does not provide legal, medical, or claim-representation advice.
Core use requires no account. Your local content stays on your device.
Offline and local-first behavior
Bundled answers, guides, benefits explanations, resources, self-checks, claims tools, transition tools, coping tools, and crisis links work without an internet connection. Local notes, journals, self-check results, and claims workspaces are stored on your device using Apple SwiftData.
The optional account backup is the only feature that requires a network connection, and it is available only when the shipped build is configured with Supabase credentials.
Troubleshooting
If the app behaves unexpectedly, try quitting and reopening it, then updating to the latest version through the App Store. If the issue continues, contact [email protected] with your device model, iOS version, app version, and a description of what happened.
Account creation and sign-in
Accounts are optional and are used only for cloud profile backup. When available, sign in with email and password inside the app. Sign in with Apple: Sign in with Apple is offered alongside email and password sign-in.
Password reset is not currently implemented in the shipped build. password reset is available from the sign-in screen If you cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the address associated with your account for manual help.
Manual backup and what is transmitted
When you opt into account backup and the build is configured for Supabase, only a small allowlisted profile subset is transmitted: preferred/display name, service branch, service status, service era, and service-era tag. Everything else stays on your device.
If backup fails
If a backup or profile sync attempt fails, the app continues to operate locally and no local data is lost. Check that you are signed in and connected to the internet, then try again. If it keeps failing, contact [email protected].
Sign-out behavior
Signing out clears your active session material on the device. Local content (journals, claims, wellbeing entries, saved items) remains on the device until you use Reset everything or uninstall the app.
Delete your cloud account
Open the app and go to Profile → Account & backup → Delete account. When the deletion Edge Function succeeds, it is intended to delete the authenticated Supabase user and the cloud profile row.
Cloud account deletion does not automatically delete your local SwiftData records. See the next item.
Reset your local data (separate from cloud deletion)
Open the app and go to Profile → Data & privacy → Reset everything to clear local records on your device. This is a separate action from cloud account deletion.
If you cannot access the app
If you cannot sign in or open the app, email [email protected] from the address associated with your account and ask us to delete your Banana Apps cloud account or assist with sign-in.
Do not include passwords, Social Security numbers, VA file numbers, medical records, or full payment details in your message. Support does not need any of these to help you.
Privacy requests (access, correction, deletion)
You can review and edit your local profile in the app. For access, correction, or deletion of information Banana Apps actually holds (allowlisted cloud profile fields for opted-in accounts and support-email content), email [email protected]. See Privacy Choices.
Export your local data
Use the in-app local JSON export to create a copy of your local records. The file is written to the app sandbox until you share it through Apple's share sheet or delete it.
Notification troubleshooting
If reminders do not appear, check iOS Settings → Notifications → Military Veteran Help, make sure notifications are allowed, and confirm your reminder is enabled in the app. Silent Mode, Focus modes, and Do Not Disturb can suppress alerts.
Crisis and emergency routing
The app is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.
Veterans Crisis Line: dial 988 and press 1, text 838255, or visit VeteransCrisisLine.net.
